Slow and Steady

2 weeks to go. Wondering what I have gotten myself into but enjoying having a goal to keep me somewhat motivated to run.

I’ve now been running for just over a year. Last February I decided I wanted to be a runner so I started this couch to 5k training plan. I followed it by the book. By April I ran my first 5k and by the end of 2011 I had ran 4 more plus I completed the Metro Dash obstacle course.

This year I decided one of my goals would be to run a half marathon. So here I am. 2 weeks away. I have followed a half marathon training schedule but unfortunately not as perfect as I would have liked. But today I successfully ran 11 miles. This 11 miles was different than my other runs on this training plan…all of my other runs have been on a treadmill for the last 2 months. I knew I needed to run outside somewhere with hills at some point to really get the feel for what this half marathon will be like.

So this afternoon I went to the park…in 48 degree weather with 35 mile an hour winds. It was great. It was real. It was definitely an experience. But I did it. It took me a while and I had to walk here and there but I did it. To pass the time I took a few pictures. Here are some of my favorites:
