Fire Academy Update: Hazmat and Burn Week

I know you all are on pins and needles to find out how my photo shoot for Prevention Magazine went over the weekend however I need to update you on the Fire Academy first since my hubby is working so hard and doing so well.

First, here are a few photos I took of Matt and the kids…more details on why I took these to come.

Anyways…

Only 3 weeks until Graduation! Since my last Fire Academy update Matt successfully completed and passed the Hazmat (Hazardous Material) portion of the Academy as well as Vehicle Fire.

He also took the Firefighter 1 test last Friday and is waiting to hear the results. There was a practicals test and a written test. He passed the practicals and should find out the results of the written test this week. He feels pretty confident that he passed.

This week is Burn Week. Yesterday, they were put in a flashover simulator.

They get inside the bottom box and then the top box is set on fire and they watch the fire from underneath as it goes over their heads.

And TODAY is the day they have all been waiting for…today they get to run inside a burning building and do what firefighters do! Actually, I think they might be crawling inside but either way I can’t wait to hear all about it!

Here is a group photo they took last week…
